Greetings. I read Father Dennis’s testimony to Congress for the reauthorization of funding for TRIO with great interest. I sincerely believe that it is through EDUCATION that our young people will survive in our world. Therefore I second the plea to reauthorize the funding. If we can focus on the great need of parents reading to their children from the womb onward, but that presupposes the parents know how to read!
What great educational ministry is being provided at DePaul University! Fr. Dennis’ testimony is a profound act of advocacy for social justice for underserved! I pray that Congress will seriously consider Fr. Dennis’ serious presentation of the facts that affect first generation students, and right in the ‘backyard’ of DePaul University, one of the top higher educational performers in the USA. Thank you Fr. Dennis and the DePaul University faculty! Blessings, Sister Jane Burger, D.C.
