It involves the story of a pivotal moment in the life of Frederick Ozanam. He was inspired to move from talk to action.
Mothers often seem to have what seems like a secret recipe or ingredient for preparing a meal.
I wonder whether Vincent had some secret recipe that would account for the momentous changes he brought to the Church and society in 17th-century France.
I suggest it was his ability to imagine and support lay ministry, especially for women.
Mothers keep memories! Often in a scrapbook.
What if the mother of Jesus kept a scrapbook? It would be filled with what kept in her heart.
Might the mysteries of the Rosary be a peek at her memories of Jesus?
Today I wonder whether our concept of mercy is too small or is a one-way street. I wonder how many sermons went beyond assuring us of the gift of God’s mercy. Certainly, an important theme.
Yet how many sermons stressed the need for us to be merciful?
“Pay It Forward.” The lead line in the movie was, “When someone does you a good deed, don’t pay it back; pay it forward.”
Isn’t that what Jesus meant when he said “Do this in memory of me!”
Do you think the church has ever before faced as severe crises as it faces today?

What can we learn?
Today I ask are there any roads you didn’t take… or maybe not follow far enough?
Do we sometimes keep Jesus in the tombs of our hearts?
In this Vincentian Mindwalk let’s explore the “real world” of Good Friday, Holy Saturday … and Easter Sunday.
How does Jesus’ resurrection open up the doors to a real world that goes beyond our limited versions of “the real world.”
Let’s ask that question about God’s love for us. It tells a lot about the vow God has made with us.
More importantly, It raises questions about how we view God and treat the “others” in our lives.
At the Last Supper Jesus said, “Do this in memory of me?
Is that the only thing Jesus wanted his disciple to remember and focus on? Do we forget how he specified that?
Join me in exploring what else he asked of us.
When Jesus entered Jerusalem reacted out of their expectations… hope, fears, and confusion, to mention just a few.
