Let’s explore in this Vincentian Mindwalk.
On October 10, 2020 Carlos became the first millennial to be named “Blessed”, the last step before being proclaimed a Saint. He would be the millennials’ first saint.
Much to my surprise, Pope Francis seemed to comment on yesterday’s Mindwalk.
Of course, I know he never read it … but his reflection today certainly fit!

In his first major sermon, Jesus names a group of people normally thought to be unfortunate and of no account. He pronounces them “blessed.” Jesus flips the script to show how different his mission was from what people expected.
The Church has its own kind of influencers.
I think of the “Saints next door” or “ordinary saints whose way of living is contagious. The way they live has great impact over people’s lives.
God shared the gift of imagination with us.
Today I ask you imagine where you might expect Jesus would begin his mission and who would he choose?

The Jerusalem headhunters would not have been very interested in Jesus’ leadership team. They liked the way rabbis were picked from among the most promising in their schools.
Yet his choices were key in spreading his message.
My parents had a dream! Their dream of a better life kept them going.

Even at 85 I was her “little brother” in our last phone call.

My 91 year old sister has entered into the fullness of life she believed in.
If I were to ask you today, “which of you knows the exact date of your baptism?” I do not think there would be too many hands raised….
Yet, it is the day on which we were saved, it is the day on which we became children of God.
