Niagara USA Chamber Tabs Father Levesque ‘Community Advocate Of The Year’

The Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, president of Niagara University, was presented with the Community Advocate of the Year Award by the Niagara USA Chamber during the organization’s Chamber Honors Gala, held March 22. To cement Father Levesque’s impactful legacy on the residents of Western New York, the chamber announced that the honor will henceforth be named the Father Joseph Levesque Award for Community Advocacy.

Father Levesque, who announced in January that he will step down from his position at the academic year’s conclusion, served on the chamber board during his entire 13-year tenure at Niagara, and was instrumental in helping bring Niagara County’s leading business organizations together in a county-wide chamber.

“Niagara University is one of Niagara County’s most important institutions, led by a dynamic, accomplished leader,” stated Deanna Alterio Brennen, president and C.E.O. of the chamber. “Father Levesque has also been integral to the success of our chamber and we are thrilled to honor him.”

Other honorees included Nik Wallenda, Dr. James Klyczek, president of Niagara County Community College, Certo Brothers and Timothy Mulvey, of Mulvey Construction. Wallenda served as the event’s keynote speaker.
