The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., NU president, fires a pitch to Tom Burns, associate vice president for communications, on Tuesday afternoon outside of Alumni Hall. Father Maher will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Buffalo Bisons’ game this Thursday night.

More than 200 Niagara University students, alumni and employees are expected to be in attendance. In addition, Phoebe Wright, a junior theatre major, will sing “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch, and members of university’s dance team will assist in the nightly NU t-shirt toss.

Father Maher, previously the executive vice president for mission and student services at St. John’s University, became the 26th president of Niagara University earlier this month. He succeeded the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., who stepped away after serving 13 years in NU’s President’s Office.
