The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., Niagara University president, and Dr. Gary Praetzel, dean of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, are among the 250 most influential people in Western New York, according to rankings published today in Business First.
The weekly newspaper published its 2014 “Power 250” – a list of the 250 men and women who (in its opinion) wield the most clout in the eight-county region – on Friday, February 7.
According to the Business First website, the “Power 250” is limited to persons who live and work in Western New York. It does not include owners of local businesses who live in other parts of America or the world.
The tenures of Niagara University’s representatives on the “Power 250” vary greatly. Father Maher, who came to Niagara after 23 years at St. John’s University, has served as president for just more than six months, while Dr. Praetzel has been affiliated with the university since 1978.
