Announcement: from Fr. Carroll: It is with overwhelming sadness that I advise you that Dr. Tony H. Bonaparte, Provost Emeritus, died peacefully early this morning in Tampa, FL. As many of you may know, he had been ill for some time. Tony was an extraordinary person who embodied all that is associated with the concepts of both gentleman and gentle man. His leadership helped to transform St. John’s; his scholarship broke new ground; and his service to our University was unparalleled. In gratitude for and recognition of his many accomplishments and contributions, St. John’s presented him with the Medal of Honor, the highest award given to an alumnus, on his retirement. A memorial service is scheduled in Tampa on May 10 at 10 a.m. I will provide full details as I become aware of them. In lieu of flowers donations to the Tony and Sueli Bonaparte Scholarship Fund are requested. I will advise you of the address to which they should be sent in subsequent messages. In the meanwhile, I know you will wish to keep Tony and Sueli in your thoughts and prayers.
